What is Ekiden?
Set in the Kralingse Bos, with hundreds of runners in a leading role. Competing teams both from The Netherlands and abroad, a partying crowd afterwards… The Ekiden Business Run has all the ingredients to become a wonderful, new tradition in the #1 Sport City. Make sure you’re there right from the start and write the next chapter in history as the first, best running company in the Netherlands.
Ekiden originated in the land of the rising sun. It’s a marathon relay. Teams consist of six runners who each run 5, 10, or 7.195 kilometres. Together they run the mythical 42 kilometres and 195 meters. In Japan, tens of thousands of companies and hundreds of thousands of employees run the Ekiden every year.
What is the Ekiden Business Run and why should your company take part?
The Ekiden Business Run is unlike any other marathon. It’s all about the teams and getting together. That’s why, after the starting short, the first runner quickly returns to the event site. Because that’s where the second runner is waiting. And the third, fourth, fifth and sixth. At the event site the entire day revolves around your team! And having a good time with the other teams. And about the music, the exchange and sportsmanship.
Everybody is able to take part in the Ekiden Business Run. Young, old, experienced runners and those just starting out. The only condition is that you have to register a company team consisting of six men and/or women. Subsequently, each team will get to decide for itself which runners will take on the 5 and 10 kilometres and which runner will run the final 7 kilometres and 195 meters.
Participation can start even today with an easy lap or light training. Then, in May we will be organising a clinic where you will be optimally prepared for the 5, 7+ or 10 kilometres, either individually or as a team. In this way, the Ekiden Business Run is not just a sports challenge that takes place on July 6, but can, if you like, start a lot sooner.
Running in a team, working on a team. The Ekiden Business Run is the perfect opportunity to get to know your colleagues better and strengthen the bond you have with them. By working out together and setting a goal, by breaking a sweat and running the marathon together. Naturally, you are able to participate, if you like, with one, two or even 42 teams.
Experience has taught us that a glass of wine tastes so much better after an achievement, and a glass of beer seems to taste better after winning a match. The Ekiden Business Run strives to find the perfect symbiosis between performance and fun. That’s why we will celebrate this sportive performance extensively by raising a glass together during an incredibly party, bringing the event to a festive close. Make sure you register your team today and go on to become the best running company in the Netherlands.
